Hi! I’m Aimee. I’ve been working as a lawyer in British Columbia for over ten years. I run a small law firm in small city. I love being a part of a community and helping people solve everyday problems. I’ve seen first hand the difficulties that ordinary people face in accessing reliable legal services. I’ve also seen many friends and clients go through challenging separations that could have been improved if they’d documented the financial agreements they had with their ex while everyone was still getting along.

I’ve always been interested in how technology can improve our lives. I hope that Jointly helps people make the relationship agreement they’ve been thinking about, but haven’t followed through on because it’s too weird and expensive to start by going to a lawyer.

I have a young family and enjoy spending as much time as possible outdoors.

What do I need prior to using the Agreement Builder?

Please review the course materials and have your completed disclosure worksheets and agreement worksheet. In addition, please use a computer to use the Agreement Builder.

The Agreement Builder doesn't display correctly on my phone

Jointly is meant to be used on a computer. It’s difficult to complete this process on a phone!

How long will it take to use the Agreement Builder?

We expect this process to take about 1 hour. You will have the opportunity to save your progress and come back by selecting the “Save link to continue later” link that’s at the bottom of each page.

I'm having technical difficulties with the Agreement Builder.

Where will my generated agreement be stored?

We don’t store a copy of your agreement. It will be emailed to you within a couple minutes of you completing the Agreement Builder. You can also download it from the last screen on the Agreement Builder.

How do I change what the agreement says?

If you have created a draft but decide your agreement should say something different, you can go through the Agreement Builder again. There is no limit to how many times you can use it. If you click on the “Save link to continue later” link at the bottom of the Builder while you’re drafting, you’ll get a link emailed to you which allows you to go back and edit a questionnaire you’ve completed. This can make editing easier and quicker!

I have questions about the agreement.

We recommend that you ask a lawyer for legal advice after you are finished generating your agreement. You and your partner should each see a separate lawyer who can explain the agreement to you and sign the independent legal advice certificate. This will help make the agreement enforceable!

I'm not happy with my agreement. Can I request a refund?

We’ll happily provide a refund within 30 days of your initial purchase. Get in touch with us at hello@getjointly.ca to discuss further.
